The design direction for the relaunch of of jmw.at was inspired by the physical changes in the museum in the last years since its renovation: the space is brighter, more welcoming and lively, and so we felt it was necessary to transport this openness and liveliness also on to jmw.at, to tell the story of the museum online in the same spirit. The use of  generous white background, plenty of pictures, bold typography, fun graphical elements and interactive features resulted in a website that looks confident and inviting, dignified but also playful.

The site was built using the open-source content management system Drupal 7, which is known for its flexibility, stability and user-friendliness to the site administrators. It features a HTML5 - jQuery responsive layout with an eye to optimum usability, whether on desktop, tablet or smartphone. Specifically for smartphone users there is a custom mobile menu offering quicker access to maps, directions and upcoming events, while desktop users can have fun with videos and picture galleries.
